Description

In 1905, Rembrandt Bugatti took his mother’s French Bulldog as a model and made this sculpture
charming and full of life, the animal tilting its head and seeming to question its
mistress. The original iron was cast by the Hébrard foundry in 1905.
This is the large model, of which only 3 copies are known to date, all three signed
and numbered by the artist. This signature as well as the stamp of the founder Hébrard “A.A.
Hébrard Cire Perdue” is reproduced with care on this reissue of copy n°2. Another one
cast of this French bulldog, of smaller size, was also produced in 1905, in
several dozen copies, in a smaller format, i.e. 14 x 13 x 8 cm.
